EEDA Newsletter: Special Announcement

Hi friends! The other day as I sat to write the first draft of this week’s EEDA Pod script, I poked around older issues of this newsletter as usual. I wasn’t finding anything that I wanted to talk about on the podcast and I sat back and thought, “I think Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice is done. I think I’ve said all I want to say on this.” And so I’m done.
Kinda. Kinda done.
The podcast is going to be less frequent and it’s going to focus on self-help books in a format we previewed back in October. The website will stay up, all the previous episodes will stay up, the Bookshop.org storefront will stay open.
The Patreon will also stay active and honestly, the plan is to be even MORE active over there. We will continue our weekly accountability thread and we have more paid content in the works. Please join us! The merch shop will also stay open because I have a lot of fun ideas that I want to realize.
This newsletter has been going since January 2020 and some of you have been with me since day one and I am so deeply grateful. This newsletter is sunsetting (kind of). The archive will stay active, as will the paywalls. Subscriptions will be a $3/month donation to access behind paywalls and help pay fees to keep this live. If you are a current paid subscriber, your subscription has been shifted to this new rate and if you want to shift down to the free level, go ahead! (I can’t figure out a simple way to do that from my end, sorry!). I will continue to send out emails to this email list so I do recommend staying subscribed at any level! It will not be as frequent/regular and it will include any current projects and podcast episodes. It will likely also include resources here and there because it’s what I do. If I come across something cool or useful it is against my nature to keep it to myself and so I will certainly continue to share.
I am proud of Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice and I am excited to make room for other things, like music and Optimistic Hoarder and my continued Book Riot work. Nicole and I talk more about all this evolution in this week’s EEDA Pod, which comes out on Wednesday. If you’re not a podcast listener, there is always a transcript available on the EEDA Pod website at the same time the podcast episode is released.
So this is neither “So long,” “Farewell,” “Auf wiedersehen,” nor “Goodbye.” Honestly, you’ll probably hear from me again later this week. It’s just gonna look a little different.
I appreciate you all and I’ll be writing to you soon!
