Volume 2, Resources 2: Covid-19 Vaccine, My Bookshop, and Accessibility
Hi friends! This week is a resource week but I have a little housekeeping to take care of first, which is to tell you about my Bookshop storefront! You can find all the books I recommend in this newsletter in one place. Yes, I get affiliate credit but honestly, more importantly, you support independent bookstores by shopping through my site. I’m working on steering people away from Amazon and Barnes & Noble and I’m starting with how I link to books for purchase.
Here’s a bonus reminder to you all that what people show on social media often isn’t the whole story, just the best parts of the story. For example, we made pizza for the first time last week. From scratch. Dough and all. Topped with garlic, olive oil, ham, marinated artichoke hearts, parmesan, mozzarella, and ricotta. It was DELICIOUS.
But here’s the other part of the story: about two-thirds of the way into cooking the second pizza, which was pictured above, disaster struck. Our pizza stone cracked into three large pieces. The oven was covered in flour and cheese.
So remember: What you see online is often just a fraction of the whole story.

Covid-19 Vaccine Information and Notifications
The amount of misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine flying around can be overwhelming. I highly recommend checking out (and sharing) the Center for Disease Control (CDC) site on the Covid-19 vaccine. There you will find toolkits, education for recipients, and some answers to frequently asked questions.
If you are in Alameda County, CA, you can sign up to get notified when vaccines are available for you at this site.
If you are in San Francisco, CA, you can sign up to get notified when vaccines are available for you at this site.
If you are in Los Angeles County, CA, you can sign up to get notified when vaccines are available for you at this site.
If you are in neither of these counties but are in the United States, do a web search (Google or whatever) for your county’s department of public health website or maybe your state’s department of public health. Many have information on their websites about the Covid-19 vaccine. Probably not all, but I’m sure some do.
Making Your Social Media Content Accessible
As I mentioned in this year’s first issue, I’m working on making all of my content more accessible. The information is actually in the caption, so click through to learn about captioning, camel case hashtags, image descriptions, and more!
