EEDA Newsletter Vol 6, Res 5: New Activist Guide & a Book List for Resilience
This is a public issue of Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice. Feel free to share it!
Hi friends! Last night, Nicole and I finished a documentary California Typewriter (2016). It took us multiple days to watch because I kept pausing it to yap and my wife is so incredibly patient with me. I’m kinda obsessed with typewriters now, though. Eh, there are worse things.
I had grand plans for an essay this week but I’m still sore from a small (routine) medical procedure I had so I’m allowing myself a short resource issue before curling up with a book or some snail mail.
Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share a photo of this crime against nature that I saw back in January:

Resource 1: A Short and Incomplete Guide For New Activists or: how to get started by getting started by Margaret Killjoy
Resource 2: Words for Resilience, Community Care, & Survival: a Libby book list curated by the Queer Liberation Library
Bonus Fun Resource: Font Generator
New Project: Optimistic Hoarder
My mother was aggressively happy and extremely sad. She bought, collected, scavenged, and hoarded when she was joyful and when she was depressed. She passed suddenly in March 2023, leaving a lifetime of belongings in multiple caches.
This newsletter is my attempt to make sense of things as I, her only child, sort through them one box at a time.
Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice is not the right place for these essays so you can find & subscribe to Optimistic Hoarder here: https://buttondown.com/optimistic-hoarder. I do not know how frequently I will write nor do I know if I will ever paywall it (currently, sign-ups are free).
