EEDA Newsletter Vol 6, Res 30: Social Justice Booklists & Postcard Action

This is a public issue of Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice. Feel free to share it!
Hi friends! Don’t forget to get your flu shot and your Covid vaccine if you are able. I got mine last Friday and it was great to see so many people in line. I spent a few evenings catching up on my physical copies of Lore Olympus, a stylized retelling of Persephone and Hades and it was good for my soul. I’ve been regularly posting book recommendations on TikTok and Instagram and trying to find joy wherever I can because things are A LOT. I’m sure you’re feeling it too and I hope you’re being gentle with yourself.
Our most recent EEDA Pod episode was posted this week, Tomato Extravaganza & a Fall Reset: Our Third Goals Check-In
Patricia and Nicole catch up after a break, sharing updates about their lives, including attending a Valkyries basketball game, harvesting tomatoes, and making their home cozier for the upcoming fall. They reflect on their progress with personal goals, such as decluttering and reading while also discussing the importance of adapting goals as life changes

It’s a resource week so let’s get to it!
Resource 1: Booklists curated by Social Justice Books
“More than 100 carefully selected lists of multicultural and social justice books for children, young adults, and educators.”
Resource 2: Action: News Boosting Postcards via Postcards to Swing States
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the antidote to despair and feeling like shit is to actually do something. This round of postcards is an effort to counter disinformation in swing states. I’d write more postcards but I’m still working through voter postcards. They still need help and honestly, it keeps me from scrolling the internet. I can’t doomscroll while writing a postcard.
