This is a public issue of Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice. Feel free to share it!

Hi friends! Quick reminder that I finally launched the EEDA Pod Merch Shop! You can find it here and it is always linked on the EEDA Pod webpage.

I was planning on making this an essay issue but Things Keep Happening™ and there are resources and information that I’m prioritizing getting out in the world and in front of you, dear readers. Personally, I’m trying really hard not to freak out about Obergefell (info in Resource 1) even though it’s something we knew was coming. Nicole and I have been doing a pretty good job at keeping distracted by cleaning and organizing. We’ve weeded books and records and we have also done a pantry cleanout. It’s done wonders for keeping us from doomscrolling.

Don’t forget about last week’s EEDA Pod episode! The Missteps of Modern Activism: Awareness vs. Action

In this episode of Enthusiastic Encouragement and Dubious Advice, hosts Patricia and Nicole discuss the significance of community and activism amidst the prevalence of digital misinformation. They delve into how algorithms shape our online experiences, the pitfalls of generative AI, and the importance of real-world actions over mere online awareness. The show also includes updates on their new merchandise shop, experiences at the Oakland Sticker Faire, and tips for creating positive, actionable change in isolationist times.

You can find our show, Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Spotify, and wherever else you get your podcasts. You can also support the show on Patreon, where we have some perks for paid subscribers with even more coming this year. You can also just make a recurring donation through subscribing to our Patreon, as our show is independently run and without ads. It helps keep us going!

Bonus: We updated the top tier of our Patreon to make it more accessible! You can find that announcement here.

Do me a favor & subscribe, will ya?

It’s another resource week so let’s get to it!

Resource 1: Legal Paperwork for LGBTQIA+ Folks (and straight ones too!)

The expected attack on Obergefell is here which means that gay marriage rights are being challenged. V Spehar is doing some excellent reporting so I’m leaving the details to them and sharing links with you. There are some legal documents that married queer folks should really have but also, upon listening to the podcast I’m going to link to, it’s clear that there are some documents that everyone should have regardless of gender, orientation, or marital status.

  • The War on Obergefell by V Spehar & Jed Bookout via Under the Desk News (newsletter post which also lists the documents you need)

  • The Nine Documents - Legal Must-Haves for LGBT Couples, ft. Angela Giampolo via American Fever Dream (podcast episode)

  • PridePlans.com: Estate Planning for the LGBTQ+ Community mentioned on the above podcast episode. Note: this is NOT free

Resource 2: Ambient Sleeping Pill

Ambient Sleeping Pill: internet radio streaming music for sleep, meditation or study; for tuning out distractions or simply relaxing; ad-free, beat-free, never too new-age or dark
