This is a public issue of Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice. Feel free to share it!

Hi friends! This week we had our first Pilates session and much to my surprise, I did not hate it. I might have even enjoyed it? It’s a couple days later when I’m writing this and my core and arms are definitely sore. We’ll be going back next week. Unrelated: I am one step closer to opening the EEDA Pod shop! We’ll be starting with a couple stickers and a window prism but my mind is overflowing with ideas for other items and I’m really excited. Once I get it going, it will be announced on our Patreon and Instagram first so make sure you’re following us there.

Don’t forget about last week’s episode of EEDA Pod! Own Your Words: How 'I Statements' Change Everything

In this episode of "Enthusiastic Encouragement and Dubious Advice," Patricia and Nicole reflect on their experiences at the Trans March and discuss their recent activities involving harvesting garlic and decluttering their book collection. They delve into effective communication techniques, particularly “I statements,” to improve personal interactions and resolve conflicts. The hosts also share book recommendations and discuss how community events and supportive gestures, like free hugs at marches, uplift their spirits.

You can find our show, Enthusiastic Encouragement & Dubious Advice on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Spotify, and wherever else you get your podcasts. You can also support the show on Patreon, where we have some perks for paid subscribers with even more coming this year. You can also just make a recurring donation through subscribing to our Patreon, as our show is independently run and without ads. It helps keep us going!

Bonus: We updated the top tier of our Patreon to make it more accessible! You can find that announcement here.

It’s another resource week so let’s get to it!

Resource 1: COMIC: How to intervene when someone is harassed or attacked via NPR LifeKit

Note from the post: This story was originally published in May of 2021 and has been updated. You can also view this comment on Instagram, but the link to the primary article/comic also includes helpful information like The 5 D’s of Bystander Intervention.

Resource 2: The Six Points of Connection We All Need via Greater Good Magazine

I have very strong opinions about using “all” when referring to people but you can hear about that in the next EEDA Pod episode. That being said, there is some really great information in this article. Some of my closest friends were made when I was volunteering and others through a listserv for a musical we were all fans of. Back in the 1900s, when there were listservs. This article is a great read and has given me some things to think about for sure.

Shoutout to my friend Abbey for sharing this link with me!
